THE TEAM
Jaymie Henry
Executive Producer, Director
Jaymie Ang Henry, MD, MPH, is a doctor, writer, public health specialist, and an advocate for Surgery as part of primary health care systems in developing countries. She is a Founder and Executive Board member of the International Collaboration for Essential Surgery (ICES), dedicated to promoting essential surgery in developing countries. Jaymie is a lecturer and content creator for the UC Berkeley Global Health Core Course. She is the executive producer, writer, and director of the film dedicated to Global Surgery issues, “The Right to Heal.”
She obtained her medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in Manila, Philippines, and a master’s in Public Health (MPH) at the University of California, Berkeley School of Public Health. Jaymie started her training in General Surgery at the Mount Sinai Hospital (NY), was an international surgical fellow at Surgeons OverSeas (SOS), ambassador at the UCSF Institute for Global Orthopedics and Traumatology (IGOT), and researcher at the World Health Organization Violence and Injury Prevention and Disability (VIP).
James Carroll
Producer
James Carroll graduated Cum Laude from AFDA in 2005 with an Honours degree in Motion Picture. He attended AFDA on a 4-year bursary from the National Film and Video Foundation based on merit.
James served as one of the executive producers on the South African box office hits Bakgat and Bakgat 2 and produced the thriller Night Drive. James is currently working in commercials and documentaries and counts MTV, Real Insurance, MTN, Nike, Sony Pictures, Paramount, Mini Cooper and Edcon among his clients. He is currently developing two other feature films.
Besides producing, James is also an editor and director. He recently edited the smash hit musical Platteland and was the post production producer for the high-budget series The Wild. He has designed and directed title sequences for The Learning Channel, Soul Buddyz and FHM and music videos for Heroes Wear Red, The Frown, Melanie Louw and Johnny Neon.
Alemberg Ang
Producer
Alemberg Ang started producing for films with Alvin B. Yapan’s directorial debut Ang Panggagahasa kay Fe (The Rapture of Fe, 2009), which won the Special Jury Prize at the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival and the Best Digital Feature Film at the 33rd Cairo International Film Festival. His collaboration with Yapan is grounded on their shared interest with the intersections of film and literary aesthetics.
Alem has also produced other films such as Vox Populi (Voice of the People, 2010), Anatomiya ng Korupsiyon (Anatomy of Corruption, 2011), Melodrama Negra, Gayuma (Pilgrim Lovers, 2010), and Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa (The Dance of Two Left Feet, 2011). Gayuma competed under the NETPAC section of the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival and at the Free Spirit Competition of the 27th Warsaw Film Festival. Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa competed at the Hawaii Film Festival, won the Best Cinematography and Musical Score in Cinemalaya and won the Bronze Award at the Bogota International Film Festival. It swept 7 awards at last year’s Gawad Urian.
With Ang's growing filmography he was invited to attend the UNESCO International Meeting of Independent Producers 2011 in Igualada, Spain, IFFR CineMart's 2012 Rotterdam's Lab and this year's Berlinale Talent Campus, to further hone his skills as a producer of Filipino films working in the international sphere. "The Right to Heal" is the first documentary he is producing.
Dexter dela Pena
Director of Photography, Asia
Dexter dela Pena is the Director of Photography for The Right to Heal as documentary cinematographer for all of the filming in Asia. He is credited as cinematographer on more than a dozen Filipino Language films including; Boca - 2010, Halaw "Ways of the Sea" - 2010, where he was nominated for a Gawad Urian Award in 2011 along with Arnal Barbarona, Ulian "Senility" - 2011, Placebo - 2011 where he was also Director, Teoriya "Father's Way" - 2011, Meintras su Durmida "As he Sleeps" - 2012, Chasing Fireflies - 2012, Debosyon - 2013, Schizophrenia - 2013, and Diplomat Hotel- 2013. In 2012 he won the Young Critics Circle, Philippines Award for Best Achievement in Cinematography and Visual Design along with Production Designer, Paul Alfonse J. Marquez for the film Teoriya - 2011.
Diego Ollivier
Director of Photography, Africa
Diego Ollivier was born in Nice, France and had lived in 5 countries by the time he was 20. With a degree in graphic design, Diego decided to move into the film industry shortly after moving to South Africa. He has shot multiple commercials, films and documentaries including Plot for Peace, an award-winning documentary that reveals the untold story of the apartheid's fall.
